Testimonials

I loved the book! My mother-in-law, Magdalena Volland Raulin, is pictured with her sisters in the book, and my son, Carl Raulin, is pictured with some of the boys at the double wedding of the Marx brothers. I also have lots of pictures of the area known as North Beach Park, Holland Point, because my husband, Glenn, and I owned the cottage my in-laws, Frederick and Magdalena Raulin, bought in 1958. It was deeded to us in 1968. The house was the one at 864 Bayfront Avenue that burned down in 1982. It was between the Wyman cottage, which was badly damaged in the fire, and the Volland/Sullivan cottage, which sustained little damage because the wind was blowing toward the Wyman cottage. Many wonderful items were lost in that fire, including a piano Glenn gave me for a wedding gift in 1954. It was an old Stieff piano, and was quite beautiful and valuable. Many antiques were also burned, including a brass bed. The fire happened on January 9, 1982, Glenn's birthday. Luckily, no one was in the house. Thank you for putting together the book. I hope you can write a "sequel" to it and include some other facts about the area.
